With the current console battle in a full blown war, we take a look at the Playstation 3 and its huge price tag. There is a lot of people saying that the PS3 does not do justice to it price, but is this true? The simple answer is no way!
The PS3 is a powerful console and although the price is huge and may be a lot bigger than its rivals, the three systems cannot, and should not really be compared. There is always talk about a war between the next generation of consoles, and this is true, there should be healthy competition and it's great to see which one will sell the most. But for an avid gamer you will be losing out on a lot if you do not purchase yourself all three of the top consoles, which are PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. We will now take a look at why you need all three.
Playstation 3
The hugely successful Playstation brand is much loved, and to be honest the PS3 has not let anyone down. Yes the console may have a high price range, but think about what you are actually getting. A hard drive, probably a console with the best rendering of graphics, top titles and not to mention the Blu-ray. A blue ray is very pricey compared to a PS3.
Xbox 360
The first games machine to launch has a major advantage over its competitors and that is progress. The developers know how to manupulate the 360's for optimal performance. Not to mention that it has a lot more games.
Wii
The Nintendo Wii revolutionised gaming and with that came a whole new experience. Although a lot of the games may not be serious, they are very fun to play. The Wii is a much loved family console.
As you can see from the above all consoles have their own advantages, but one of the main benefits is the broadness of the games. Most games only have sole rights to each games console, so not purchasing all three could see you losing out on a great game. You should 100% consider purchasing the PS3.

The new Nintendo Wii game consoles have become very popular in today’s world. The Wii revolutionizes the old way of playing other game consoles, because it features a wireless contrller that allows you to actually act out, or participate in certain games. The Nintendo Wii is an interactive game console requiring you to actually move to play games. This was the reason that Wii came up with the idea of using interactive games; to give gamers the exercise they need, and keep them from just sitting all the time.
The Wii Music game is one of the newest Wii games on the market today. The game allows you to play up to 60 different instruments, with no pre-existing knowledge of music or the instrument. Unlike “Guitar Hero” where you have to follow the picture on the TV screen, with the Wii all you need to do is to imitate playing the instrument, using the Nunchuk controllers and the Wii Remote. With the wii music game, it is easy to play a song just using simple motions. You pick the song you want to hear and then choose whether to make it into a rock song or classical music. Even a Latin theme can be added to the song for a unique sound.
By choosing between several settings, the Wii Music game will help you to train and improve your musical session and can even include your friends on their own instruments. Modes such as video playback can help you transform into a master music.
You can record your jam session using your Wii and send it to your online friends who can review, replay and then turn return the music to you until the session is perfect. Wii Music also allows you to use various camera angles to get the best effect.
While you may get the impression this music game is all about music, you will find that its more than that. From low to high pitch, you can take a quiz that will let you test your ear tones. You can also play notes only when the tune requires you to do so. Another option within the game allows you to act as a conductor of an orchestra. You can choose to be the conductor of the orchestra, using the remote as a baton to lead each section of instruments just like a real conductor would do. You can also make them play in a soft tone or a stronger tone, slowly or quickly.
If you own Wii Fit, you can place your feet on the Balance Board which will work as pedals for bass drums and cymbals. Wii Music includes a list of songs to play, but this is only the beginning. It’s what you do with it that really counts.
The Wii Music game is an excellent music instrutor. The Wii music games makes it possible for people to play an instrument without having to take the time out to really learn all the details and techniques. If you enjoy the thought of making your own music, I highly recommend it.

As 2008 comes to a close, it’s good to take a look back and see what awesome game releases there have been, and mainly, to decide on which game has been the best of 2008.
Throughout the whole year there have been some awesome video game releases on the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, but in my opinion, the later half of the year would have to be the best. Between September and November there were some awesome game releases, dozens infact, and they have kept me and millions of other gamers entertained this year.
Here are just a few of the awesome games that have been released in the past year:
Lost Odyssey – I thought this game was pretty good, although the combat of the game was not my favorite it was still good gameplay, but also, extremely long, 4 disks, really took some time to get through it all.
Condemned 2 – Although the game is rather brutal, the complex puzzles and hand to hand combat makes the game really good. The game can get pretty tense at times which really pulls you in.
Battlefield: Bad Company – This is my personal favorite Battlefield game so far, mainly because it has a campaign. I thought the ability blow up a hole in a building was awesome, you could run any direction at a building and make your very own door.
Lego Indiance Jones – I am a great fan of all of the Lego games, they are brilliant and great fun. Although they are very short and can be completed in one day, the way the Lego team creates the game and adds their own humour is brilliant.
Lego Batman – This game was really the same as Lego Indianace, just a few new features but it’s still a brilliant game to play. Every Lego game so far has been great, they are fun for the whole family and everyone will enjoy them.
Civilization Revolution – I only played this game a few times on the Xbox 360 but I thought it was amazing, alot different from any other Civilization game.
Devil May Cry 4 – I know alot of people that love this game, but I don’t see the amusement with it. I played the demo on the Xbox 360 and thought, “hmm, alot of jumping”. I thought the game was rather repetitive, not my cup of tea really.
Mario Kart Wii – Although I am not a fan of Mario games, I did enjoy this one. Especially when you have the special Wii steering wheel, it makes the game alot of fun, although its better to play as a group, it’s still alot of fun on your own, a must play for Wii lovers.
GRID – I never liked this game, the graphics were very good but because you could rewind time if you crashed, I thought it ruined it.
Burnout Paradise – The only problem with this game is the repetitive factor, you do alot of races and then get a new license, once you get that license you have to repeat all of the races again, just a little bit harder to get another license. Overall I thought the game was great for a fast drive through the city but the campaign got rather repetitive after a while.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Even though I have only played this game a few times, it was immense fun when I played it. The simple controls and fast gameplay makes it really fun to play as a party. The ability to jump around as Pikachu is great and rather funny.
Metal Gear Solid 4 – This game consists mainly of movie scenes which after a while get boring and too long, but once you get to play the game you’ll forget all about them. Once your into the game it’s great fun to play and the graphics are good.
Rock Band – Amazing, I have always loved the Guitar Hero games, but when this was released I just had to get it, I loved the set list and loved the new instruments, amazing game and a must play for any music game lover.
Rock Band 2- Just like Rock Band 1 just with an even better set list and a wider range of songs, really great fun and everyone should have a go.
Guitar Hero World Tour – This game, like with Rock Band is a brilliant game, the new instruments were awesome but I thought the set list really dragged it down, obviously it depends on your taste but I wasn’t amazed by it.
Grand Theft Auto 4 – You can’t really complain about this game, all of the other GTA’s have been outstanding but this one just topped the lot. Outstanding graphics and the ability to change the way the game ends depending on the choices you make just makes it even better. With the addition of new content coming next year, I’m looking forward to it.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – Most likely only World of Warcraft players will want to read this one, it was a great game, with a new level cap, new raid cotent, a new class and new professions. This game will keep me busy for many following months.
Gears of War 2 – Amazing, just that one word needed really. The amazing graphics and storyline kept you in the game and the non stop blood and action kept you amazed for the whole thing. This is a must play game for any Xbox owner.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Although there was alot of hype before this game came out, when it was released, I was not amazingly impressed. Although the look and gameplay of it was great, the length of the storyline was terrible, plus because it has no online play, the game was over with a few days and it now sits on the shelf.
Left 4 Dead – If you were a fan of games like Half Life and Counter Strike, you’ll love Left 4 Dead, it’s made by the same people but this time it’s got zombies. You work as a team of 4 to fight your way out of the city. I personally love the emphasis on team work all through the game, plus all the guns and weapons are rather realistic.
Fable 2 – Although the majority of the game was great, there were some bits that were just ok. The storyline, graphics and ability to change the entire game by making one decision is great. But the length and difficulty of the game was a let down, I found it to be alot shorter than the original Fable and it was also alot easier as you didn’t seem to face any major bosses. Although it has some downsides, It’s still a great game to play.
Mirror’s Edge – Some people might this is a bad game, but not me, this game is alot like Assassins Creed and I loved Assassins Creed. I thought Mirror’s Edge was a awesome game, the graphics were brilliant, although the cut scenes weren’t great, they looked like cheap comic book stuff, the gameplay was wicked and it’s just a whole new style of game.
Far Cry 2 – There is one major problem with this game, once you start to play, you can’t stop for several hours. The whole storyline and ability to change the game as you play is great, plus having to battle with malaria, brings a whole new dimension to the game. Your have a great range of weapons, plus the ability to start a forest fire to take advantage of your enemies is great. All these things made it an awesome game, one of the best of 2008.
Call of Duty 5: World of War – This game had alot to live up to, it had to beat CoD4 which one a number of awards this year. I didn’t like CoD5 as much as 4 because it went back to the World Wars instead of staying in the present. But that aside, the gameplay and graphics were awesome, although I thought it didn’t quite live up to the reputation left by CoD4.
All of the games listed above were brilliant to play and lots of fun, but when it comes to choosing a game of 2008, it’s a really difficult one. I would have to say that my game of 2008 it between Rock Band 2 and Gears of War, and because of the constant fighting and action, superb graphics and awesome storyline, Gears of War 2 is my game of the year. What’s yours?
